The rapid emergence of Industry 4.0 has opened new horizons in digital transformation, yet a crucial gap persists between innovative laboratory solutions and their robust implementation in dynamic real-world environments. IMMERSE-4.0 addresses this challenge by advancing immersive technologies—from Virtual Reality to Augmented and Mixed Reality—beyond experimental benchmarks into validated, market-ready applications. Spearheaded by Invelon Technologies, a recognized leader in developing customized immersive solutions, this project proposes the design, integration, and testing of an innovative immersive training and operational enhancement platform for industrial environments.
IMMERSE-4.0 will combine advanced research, prototype development, and extensive user trials to ensure that the evolving technology meets rigorous performance and safety standards. The platform will empower industries by providing immersive 3D product manipulation interfaces, modular VR training capsules, and mixed reality scenarios that simulate complex operational procedures. By embedding these applications in relevant industrial contexts, the project will validate the technology under real operating conditions, optimizing both user experience and system reliability.
The project is structured around five interlinked Work Packages: Project Management, Immersive Technology Research & Development, Prototype Integration & Validation, User Trials & Evaluation, and Business Development & Exploitation. Each Work Package is designed to achieve critical milestones—from technical design and integration to comprehensive market testing—ensuring that the prototype evolves into a commercial product with a robust business model. The consortium is purposefully assembled to cover the entire innovation chain: academic excellence, industrial expertise, advanced research capabilities, and market-focused business development. This collaborative approach not only addresses the technical challenges of integrating cutting-edge immersive technologies but also lays down a clear path towards commercialization.
In addition to prototyping and user testing, IMMERSE-4.0 will focus on developing a sustainable business case by conducting market analyses and tailoring the solution to industry-specific challenges. The project will actively engage end users during pilot testing phases, gathering detailed feedback to refine the platform and secure a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving market. Ultimately, the project aims to catalyze the industrial adoption of immersive technologies, significantly enhancing learning experiences, operational efficiency, and overall productivity in key European sectors.
